Andabove all, what weve got to do together is stand up for enterprise, entrepreneurship and forthe dynamism that you represent and thats the future of our country. And mitment to spend 0.7 per cent of our Gross NationalIncome on aid. And have taken the steps necessary. Weve legislated. Weve acted. Weveinvested. And I urge other countries to take the steps that they need to as well so we can reachthis historic deal.

Good morning. Last night, the United States carriedout an air strike in Raqqa, Syria, targetingMohammed Em too.

He has no better friend or ally.

And I aboutour citizens.

The threat ISIL pose continues. Britain and her allies will not rest until we have defeated thisevil terrorist death cult, and the poisonous ideology on which it feeds.

Today though, my thoughts, and the thoughts of our country, are with the families of those whowere so brutally murdered.

Japanese citizens Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa, American journalists Steven Sotloff andJames Foley and aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig.

And of course our own citizens. Aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning. Nothing will bringback David and Alan. Their courage and selflessness stand in stark contrast to the emptycallousness of their murderers.

Their families and their friends should be proud of them, as we are. They were the best ofBritish and they will be remembered long after the murderers of ISIL are forgotten.

Thank you.

pms speech at beida university, china

a transcript of speech given by the prime minister at the beida university in china on 9 november XX.

introduction

ty

y

the position it has held for 18 of the last 20 centuries.

and an achievement of which the chinese people are justly proud.

put simply: china has re-emerged as a great global power.

threat or opportunity

now people can react to this in one of two ways.

they can see chinas rise as a threat

or they can see it as an opportunity.

they can protect their markets from china

or open their markets to china.

they can try and shut china out

or e of the prizes that the rise of china could help to bring y.

a real chance to get back on track toe the fact, for example, that more than 900 chinese doctors noy grows, so do our shared interests, and our shared responsibilities.

y.

ic responsibilities

first, economic responsibilities.

lets get straight to the point.

the ies and y toy to be able to gro one side of the globe to the other.

e 20 million jobs were lost in the chinese export sector.

changes in the structure of our economies mon approach.

my discussions pleted overnight

but it must happen.

lets be clear about the risks if it does not

about y could go into reverse.

if y status in the eu too.

i had very constructive talks her to do more to protect intellectual property rights

because this advanced engineering to education…

from great brands to great pharmaceutical businesses

from lopanies across the uk and cities all over china.

including a deal bety and take steps over time toic power.

it has new political power.

and that brings new political responsibilities too.

what china says and what china does really matters.

there is barely a global issue that needs resolution, which does not beg the questions: what does china think, and how can china contribute to a solution?

china has attempted to avoid entanglement in global affairs in the past. but chinas size and global reach means that this is no longer a realistic choice.

having some of the most efficient green energy in the e a neic crisis or the rise of international terrorism, todays threats to our security do not respect geographical boundaries.

the proliferation of nuclear material endangers lives in nanjing as acquiring a nuclear weapon.

in your own region, i believe china can work with us to improve the situation for the burmese people.

and china is one of the few countries that burma will listen to on this point.

but political responsibilities are not just about how one country interacts with another

those responsibilities also apply to the y generates higher living standards and more choice for chinese people, there is inevitably debate bines tmons, people e to sensible decisions and to develop robust policies that command the confidence of our people.

i make these observations not because i believe that immune from poverty and the ills that afflict every nation on earth.

but in arguing for a strong relationship between our countries, i want a relationship in which we can be open with each other, in which we can have constructive dialogue of give and take in a spirit of tolerance and mutual respect.

the rise in economic freedom in china in recent years has been hugely beneficial to china and to the e respects it already has.

ordinary chinese people today have more freedom over e issues, especially around human rights.

y to suffer a reverse.

.

proof, perhaps, that confucius was right when he said.

“within the four seas all men are brothers”

yes, there we will be storms to weather.

yes, there will be perils to overcome.

yes, we will have to persevere.

but it will be worth it for britain, for china and for the world.

Centuries of history hang in the balance, a question mark hangs over the future of our United Kingdom. If people vote “yes” in September, then Scotland . But my argument today is that as one, 7 months to save the most extraordinarycountry in history. And we must do whatever it takes, so to everyone, in England, Manchester to Motherwell, from pembrokeshire to perth, from Belfast to Bute, from us to the people of Scotland, let the message be this: we want you to stay! Think of what we’ve done together, what we can do together, what we stand for together. Team GB, the winning team in the history of the world, let us stick together, for a winning future too.

If there is anyone out there ent change has come to America.

A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Sen. McCain.

Sen. McCain fought long and hard in this campaign. And he’s fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. ise in the months ahead.

I ing with us to the new White House.

And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother’s watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight. I know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my sister Maya, my sister Alma, all my other brothers and sisters, thank you so much for all the support that you’ve given me. I am grateful to them.
