Astheworld’seconomicpowersgatherfortheG8,theAmericaneconomyremaitheenvyoftheworld.Andthisweekwereceivedevenmorepositivenewsaboutoureconomy.OnTuesday,myadministration’sOfficeofManagementandBudgetreleaseditsaualupdateonthebudgetoutlook.Thisyear’sreportisveryencouraging:Becauseoureconomycontinuestoenjoystronggrowth,federaltaxrevenuesaregrowing,andwearecuttingthefederaldeficitfasterthanexpected.

Thisgoodnewsisnoaccident.ItistheresultofthehardworkoftheAmericanpeople,andpro-growtheconomicpoliciesinWashington,D.C.Since20xx,wehavecuttaxesforeveryonewhopaysincometaxes,reducedthemarriagepenalty,doubledthechildtaxcredit,andputthedeathtaxontheroadtoextinction.Wecuttaxratespaidbymostsmallbusineesandfurtherencouragedexpaionby版权所有cuttingtaxesonpidendsandcapitalgai.

SomeinWashingtonthinkthechoiceisbetweencuttingtaxesandcuttingthedeficit.Thisweek’snumbersshowthatthisisafalsechoice.Theeconomicgrowthfueledbytaxreliefhashelpedsendtaxrevenuessoaring.Whentheeconomygrows,busineesgrowwithit,peopleearnmoremoney,andtheypaytaxesonthisnewincome.

In20xx,taxrevenuespostedthelargestincreasein24years,andthey’reprojectedtoriseagainthisyear.Theincreaseintaxrevenuesismuchbetterthanwehadprojected,anditishelpinguscutthebudgetdeficit.

Becauseofthesenewrevenues,wenowprojectthatwe’llmeetourgoalofcuttingthefederaldeficitinhalfby20xx,afullyearaheadofschedule.Thisisrealprogre,yetwecaotdependonagrowingeconomyalonetocutthedeficit.Wemustalsocutwasteandrestrainuecearygovernmentending.Andmyadministrationisdoingitspart.

EveryyearsinceItookofficewehavereducedthegrowthofdiscretionaryendingthatisnotrelatedtonationalsecurity.Mylasttwobudgetshaveactuallycutthiskindofending.IamalsoworkingwithCongretopaalineitemveto,whichwillhelpmeandfuturepresidentstargetwastefulendingthatlawmakerstackontolargebills.TheHousehasalreadypaedthismeasurewithsignificantbipartisansuort.NowtheSenateneedstoactandgetalineitemvetotomydesktosignintolaw.

In1776,JohnAdamspredictedtohiswife,Abigail,thatAmerica’sIndependenceDaywouldbecelebratedbysucceedinggeneratioasthegreataiversaryfestival.Hewrotethat"thisaiversaryshouldbecommemoratedwithpompandparade,withshows,games,orts,bells,bonfires,andilluminatiofromoneendofthiscontinenttotheother,fromthistimeforward,forevermore."

Sincethen,generatioofAmericahavedonejustthat.EachyearwelookforwardtothefamilygatheringsandthegrandcelebratiothattakeplaceacrotheNationonthe4thofJuly.Andamidthemusicandbarbequesandfireworks,wegivethanksforourfreedom,andwehonorthebraveryandsacrificesofallthosewhohavemadethatfreedompoible.
