Good evening:

This is the 37th time I have spoken to you from this office, the discussions I have had e and abroad. I pledge to you tonight that as long as I have a breath of life in my body, I shall continue in that spirit. I shall continue to work for the great causes to which I have been dedicated throughout my years as a Congressman, a Senator, Vice president and president, the cause of peace -- not just for America but among all nations -- prosperity, justice and opportunity for all of our people.

There is one cause above all to which I have been devoted and to which I shall always be devoted for as long as I live.

And I understand that if I stayed here tonight I . poverty must not be a bar to learning, and learning must offer an escape from poverty.

But more classrooms and more teachers are not enough. ise this: these meetings and from this inspiration and from these studies this moment begin our work so that in the future men will look back and say: It was then, after a long and weary way, that man turned the exploits of his genius to the full enrichment of his life.
